Welcome to My Corner of the Family
My name is Joseph Shaun Hale, and this little space is a glimpse into the life I’ve lived — the lessons, the losses, and the love that shaped me.
I was born in Chicago in 1966, but Coal City, West Virginia, is where I truly grew up. It’s where I learned about friendship, music, hard work, and how life doesn’t always follow the plans we expect. I wasn’t the best student, but I found purpose through persistence — and a few good people who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
Over the years, I’ve worn many hats — student, band member, friend, husband, father, and computer professional. I earned bachelor degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics, and later a Master’s in Management of Information Systems with a focus on Computer Forensics. My path hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been real — full of both challenges and blessings.
Today, I share my life with my wife Ellen and our children, Chastity, Akira, Arianna, and now Avianna — who joined our family in 2025. We make our home in Coal City, where roots run deep and family still means something.
As I face new challenges, including upcoming surgery to remove two meningiomas, I’m reminded every day of how precious time is — and how much I still have to be grateful for. This page is my way of sharing a bit of my journey, my memories, and the things I love with you.
Welcome, and thank you for stopping by.
